Wade, SP outduel Gallia, 2-1

GALLIPOLIS — It was a classic pitcher’s duel.
South Point Pointers’ Logan Wade and Gallipolis Blue Devils’ Josh Faro hooked up in a pitching battle on Monday and the Pointers rallied late for a 2-1 Ohio Valley Conference win.
Wade gave up four hits, struck out nine and walked two in going the distance for the Pointers (5-1, 1-0).
Faro allowed six hits, stuck out six and walked two.
The game was scoreless until the third inning when Gallipolis got its lone run.
Dylan Smith was safe on an error, Tanner Allen put down a sacrifice and John Stout had a two-out single.
South Point didn’t score until pushing across both runs in the sixth.
Douglas Shaffer led off with a single and scored on a one-out double by Wade to tie the game.
Tanner Hall walked and Jonathan Henline and Travis Dillon followed with singles to the go-ahead run.
Gallipolis got a single by Jeremy Brumfield in the sixth.
In the seventh, Coke Davis walked but Wade got a double play ball. Quinton Yarger had a base hit but Wade struck out the next batter to end the game.
South Point hosts Symmes Valley on Tuesday.
