PEDRO — The scorebook and scoreboard were almost identical, except for the final score.

While the statistics were nearly the same, the South Point Lady Pointers got past the Rock Hill Redwomen 5-3 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Wednesday.

Each team had five hits and two errors. South Point pitcher Abby Hannah struck out five and walked one while Rock Hill’s Jill Hairston struck out seven and did not walk a batter.

But the difference was South Point bunched their hits in the decisive fourth inning.

Rock Hill jumped in front 2-0 in the first inning.

Baylie Harrah reached on an error, Hairston put down a sacrifice bunt as Harrah went to third. Grace Stevens was intentionally walked and Tori Pancake crossed up the strategy with a two-run single.

South Point got a run back in the second on a home run by Laken Adkins.

The Lady Pointers took the lead with three runs in the fourth.

Hannah reached on a fielder’s choice and Keiara Conwell, Leah Lawson and Adkins all had RBI doubles.

Rock Hill cut the deficit to 4-3 with a run in the sixth when Madison Harper singled and advanced to second where she scored on a hit by Samantha Stamper.

South Point got the run back in the seventh when Lawson doubled and Hannah Roberts singled.

On Friday, Rock Hill hosts Fairland and South Point visits Portsmouth.
