Consigned Books to host upcoming events

Consigned Books in Ironton has announced several events for the next few weeks.

Angela Lewis, an Art Institute graduate, will host a weekly Art Party.

Owner Cindy Black said Lewis will offer classes at the store, located at 221 S. Third St., at 6 p.m. each Thursday for the next six weeks.

The sessions, which are $25 each, will allow people the chance to learn how to make animation cells, do storyboarding, learn family tree designs, Celtic name designs, book cover designs, work with scratch boards and more.

Dr. Brian K. Bailey, a podiatric physician and surgeon and writer on health topics, will sign copies of his work from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, poetry nights will take place on Friday nights, starting at 6 p.m., with free coffee provided.

The second part of Fiction Writing 101 workshop, taught by suspense and paranormal author Cathy Shaffer, will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 6.

Children’s author Victoria Brown, of Cincinnati, will sign copies of her work at the store at 2 p.m. on May 13.

“She’s a 17-year-old, published author,” Black said.
