Lady Fighting Tigers outscore Gallipolis

PROCTORVILLE — Was this softball or football?
The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers scored a run in the top of the seventh to outscore the Gallipolis Blue Angels 14-13 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Thursday.
Ironton got the winning run in the top of the seventh when Aley Carmon got a one-out single, went to third on Ruth Paholsky’s ground out and scored on a wild pitch.
The Lady Tigers had 19 hits with Paholsky going 3-5 with a double and six runs batted in while Carmon was 4-5 with a double and three RBI.
Peighton Rowe also had a big game as she went 4-4 with four RBI. Kenzie Cremeens went 3-4, Demi Sands 2-3 and Riley Schreck 2-5.
Gallipolis had 15 hits with Hunter Copley, Alex Barnes and Jenna Meadows all going 3-5 while Kimberly Edelmann was 3-4. Meadows had five RBI.
Ironton built a 7-0 lead before Gallipolis began its comeback.
After Gallia got three runs in the third, Ironton got a run in the fourth when Cremeens singled, moved up on an error and scored on Paholsky’s hit.
The Lady Tigers scored five runs in the top of the fifth to lead 13-3.
Taiya Hamlet was safe on an error, stole second and scored when Rowe singled. Sands walked, Schreck singled, Cremeens was hit by a pitch, Carmon doubled and Paholsky was safe on an error.
The Blue Angels scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to make it 13-6 and then scored seven runs in the sixth to tie the game.
Ironton visits Coal Grove on Friday.
