BEAVER — It was just one of those kind of games.
Despite getting 15 hits, the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings lost 10-7 to the Beaver Eastern Lady Eagles on Friday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.
“We had enough hits to win, but we have to cut down on our physical and mental mistakes. We ran ourselves out of several scoring opportunities,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Jeff “Odie” Estep.
Sarah Kingery was 2-4 with a home run and two runs batted in while Kara Saunders went 3-4 to lead the Lady Vikings’ offense.
Sierra Ross was 2-4 with two doubles, Emily Sharp 2-4 with a double, Ericca Ross 2-3 and Taylor Webb went 2-4.
Madison Southworth was 4-4 while Leah Compton and Olivia Hatfield each went 3-4 for Eastern.
Eastern took a 2-0 lead in the first but the Lady Vikings tied the game in the top of the third.
Kingery singled, moved up on a passed ball and Sharp was safe on an error as Kingery scored. Sharp later scored when Webb grounded out.
Eastern went up 6-2 in the bottom of the third and Symmes Valley came back to tie the game in the fourth.
Saunders singled and Rachael Hayes had an RBI triple. Ericca Ross singled in a run and Kingery capped the rally with a two-run homer over the fence in centerfield.
Eastern then took the lead for good with three runs in the bottom of the fourth and it was 9-6.
The Lady Vikings got their final run in the sixth when Webb singled, moved to second on a passed ball and scored on Sierra Ross’s double.
