Lady Tigers lose offensive battle

JACKSON — This game was all about hitting.

The Jackson Ironladies had 19 hits and did not strike out as they beat the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers 12-6 on Monday.

Ironton had nine hits and struck out just four times as a team.

Jackson got a run in the first on a double by Sydney Humphreys, a sacrifice by Haley Patterson and Raylene Hammond’s ground out.

The Ironladies scored four times in the second.

Kylee Bako doubled and Mackenzie Humphreys had an RBI single.

With two outs, Sam Medley singled, and Sydney Humphreys and Patterson were safe on errors.

The lead went to 7-0 in the third on a double by Patterson and singles by Bako, Katelyn Newkirk, Mackenzie Humphreys and Haley Richards.

Ironton got a run in the fourth when Kenzie Cremeens reached on an error, stole third and scored on a hit by Aley Carmon.

But Jackson scored three in the bottom of the inning to lead 10-1.

Patterson double and Bako singled her home. Newkirk, Mackenzie Humphreys and Richards all followed with singles.

Ironton’s late-starting offense scored two in the fifth when Demi Sands walked and Riley Schreck hit a two-run homer.

Jackson got the runs back in the bottom of the inning on hits by Sydney Humphreys and Patterson, an RBI ground out by Hammond, and a single by Banks.

The Lady Tigers kept battling and scored three times in the seventh.

Haley Stevens walked, moved to third on a passed ball and wild pitch and scored on a throwing error.

Carmon then doubled and Ruth Paholsky followed by cranking two-run over the fence.

Paholsky was 2-4 with a home run and two runs batted in while Carmon was 2-4 with a double and RBI.

Sydney Humphreys was 3-5, Haley Patterson 3-4 and Mackenzie Humphreys 3-4 with two RBI to pace Jackson.

Ironton plays at Rock Hill in the Division III sectional tournament at 5 p.m. on Friday.
