GETAWAY — Students at Collins Career technical Center celebrated the end of the school year on Friday, while raising funds for a good cause.
A Field Day event took place at the school, offering food, games and other activities.
“It’s not only a fun day, but we’re raising money for the Ironton City Welfare Mission,” Shannon Perdue, an English teacher at the school said.
She said students could purchase tickets for various activities on campus, with the proceeds going to the charity.
“The graphic design students are doing face painting,” she said. “And there’s a dunk tank set up.
Other activities included a Star Wars movie marathon, food and desserts and an engraving booth.
“A lot of people are using it for Mother’s Day gifts,” Perdue said of the booth. “”Each font they offer is worth a certain number of tickets.”
