SOUTH POINT — Those driving in the village of South Point may want to think twice before running a stop sign or speeding. Mayor Jeff Gaskin said, due to requests from residents, he has requested that police in the village concentrate on the problem.
“We’ve had lots and lots of complaints about stop signs and speeding,” he said. “So I have asked police to focus on stop signs and speeding.” Gaskin said the effort is not due to funding.
“This is not about money,” he said. “This is about safety in our town.”
Gaskin said the police department is not lacking in funds and does not base its funding on tickets. “Our police department gets its money from the general fund and the police levy,” he said.
