Cancer is an illness that touches millions of people each year. This disease doesn’t have boundaries or effect certain demographics or ages.
However, the fight against cancer is alive and well and as important as ever.
That is the goal of the Lawrence County Relay for Life, which was held at South Point High School. The annual event looks to celebrate those who are survivors and remember those who lost their lives while still fighting. Additionally, funds are raised for the American Cancer Society to help with research that will, hopefully, one day find a cure.
Ultimately, whether it is at an event like Relay for Life or helping a cancer patient, it can help to make a difference in a person’s life.
For many years, Lawrence County has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for the organization.
Defeating cancer is a long process and, ultimately, winning the battle will be hard. But working together, raising awareness and helping those in their fight can go a long way.
Thanks to events like Relay for Life, we continue to take the necessary steps to one day eradicate this terrible illness from the world.
