Reed, McDaniel qualify for Ohio Am golf tournament

NEWARK — These amateurs were playing like pros.
Logan Reed and Todd McDaniel of Ironton turned in strong performances as they qualified for the Ohio Amateur Golf Tournament.
Both golfers shot a 4-over par 75 and as they qualified at an Ohio Am qualifier held on Wednesday at the Moundbuilders Country Club.
The Ohio Amateur Tournament to be held July 10-14 at Springfield Country Club.
Reed — the youngest golfer in the field who will be a senior at Rock Hill this fall — posted rounds of 38-37 over the 6,737-yard course as he registered one birdie, 12 pars and five bogeys.
McDaniel — who played at Kentucky — had rounds of 39-36 for his total as he had one birdie, 13 pars, three bogeys and on double bogey.
A total of 113 golfers were entered in the field and only the top 34 players advanced. The qualifying tournaments advance 23 percent of the field.
Reed and McDaniel were among 12 golfers who shot a 75 and were forced into a playoff. Seven of the 12 were able to qualify after the first playoff hole.
