Bernard Huddle

March 12, 1936 — July 16, 2017

Bernard “Bud” Ray Huddle, 81, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. He was born in Lawrence County, on March 12, 1936, to the late Raymond and Eva (Boyd) Huddle.
Bernard graduated from Rock Hill High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. from 1958-1961. He worked in the Electric Motors Department for Armco Steel Company, where he retired after 40 years of service. Bernard was a member of the Moose Lodge, VFW, American Legion, AMVETS, and Eagles.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Erma Ross.
Bernard is survived by two sons, Thomas Huddle, of Ironton, and Brian (April) Huddle, of Columbus; a very special grandson, Nathaniel (Latisha) Johnson, of Ironton; grandson, Brandon Huddle, of Carroll; great-granddaughter, Isabella Johnson, of Ironton; and several other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Bud’s life will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Ironton Moose Lodge #701 Family Center, Ironton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests food be brought to the celebration. Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Landon Wheatley

Landon Trevor Wheatley, 19, of Ironton, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, July 16, 2017, in Springfield, Kentucky. He was born Oct. 4, 1997, the son of Tami (Greg) Scythes and Larry (Jenifer) Wheatley.
Landon was a graduate of Washington County Schools and attended Elizabethtown Community and Technical College. He was a courier for Omnicare and grew up attending Solida Baptist Church in South Point. He loved spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by four sisters, Summer Ranae Wheatley, of Coal Grove, Brooklyn Adaya Scythes, of South Point, Aspen Aleigha Scythes, of South Point, and Brittany Elizabeth Miller, of Bardstown, Kentucky; brother, Jordan Scot Miller, of Bardstown, Kentucky; grandparents, Dottie Bennett, of Coal Grove, Randy Sexton, of Ironton, Bernice Lanham, of Springfield, Kentucky, and Larry Wheatley Sr., of Springfield, Kentucky; three aunts, Dee (Mark) McKenzie, of Ironton, Ann Marie (John) Hale, of Springfield, Kentucky, and Amy Jo (Jerimy) Fletcher, of Springfield, Kentucky; uncle: Tim (Carol) Kelly, of Coal Grove; special cousins, Logan, Lakyn, Talyn, Jennifer, James, Thomas, Dalton, Jaxon, Jagger, Josh and Brad; and several other loved ones and friends who will miss him greatly.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today with funeral services following at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home in Springfield, Kentucky. There will be a graveside service at 1 p.m. Friday at Hanging Rock Cemetery, Hanging Rock, with pastor Aaron Childers officiating. Loretta Fosson

Feb. 20, 1933 — July 17, 2017

Loretta Myers Fosson 84, of Ashland, Kentucky, died Monday, July 17, 2017, at Ashland Community Hospice. She was born Feb. 20, 1933, the daughter of the late Gene and Ella Bell Myers. She was the widow of Kenneth L. Fosson. She was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church in Ashland, Kentucky.
Her survivors include one sister, Virginia (Sugar) Dave Allen; one brother, Terry Michael Myers; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Wanda (Boots) Morrison; and brothers, Gary (Perk) Myers, Charles Kenneth Myers, William Joseph Myers, Paul David Myers and Robert Myers.
Interment will be on 2 p.m. Thursday at Rose Hill Burial Park, Sanctuary of Hope Chapel with T.J. Azar officiating. O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home, Ironton, is in charge of the arrangements.

Barbara McGirr

Mrs. Barbara Arreittia McGirr, 81, of Winder, Georgia passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017.
A native of Scioto County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Lester North and Arreittia McNeeley North. Mrs. McGirr retired from Winder Health Care, where she served patients as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. McGirr is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Garilyn Ray McGirr, Sr.
Mrs. McGirr is survived by her sons, John McGirr, of Winder, Georgia, Jack McGirr, of Ironton, Jerry McGirr, of Decatur, Alabama, and Garilyn McGirr II, of Woodlans, Texas; one brother, Charles Lester North, Jr.; two sisters, Betty Stephenson and Linda Mains; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Per the request of the family, there will be no services for Mrs. McGirr. Smith Funeral Home, Winder, Georgia, is entrusted with the arrangements.

Norman Bo Baise

Norman Bo Baise, 68, of Chesapeake, died Saturday, July 15, 2017, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Ironton. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, by Minister David Smith. Burial will follow in Getaway Cemetery, Chesapeake. Thomas Wilson

Thomas D. “Tommy” Wilson, 59, of Coal Grove, died Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Kentucky. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Aldridge Wilson. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
