James Webb

Feb. 9, 1934 — Aug. 14, 2017

James “Jim” Joseph Webb, 83, of Catlettsburg, Kentucky, passed away after a brief illness Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia.
Mr. Webb was born Feb. 9, 1934, in Ironton, a son to the late John and Bertha (Little) Webb. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Fern Johnson Webb.
Mr. Webb was a 1952 graduate of South Point High School. Straight after high school, he went to work for the Ashland Daily Independent. He went on to become a real estate agent, owning his own Kentucky Realty for over 50 years.
Mr. Webb served two terms as an Ashland City Commissioner (1966-1971), and was the Mayor of Ashland from 1972-1975. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Arvilla Patrick; and two brothers, Robert Webb and Lindsey Webb.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, James “Jimbo” Webb, of Ashland, Kentucky; daughter, Nannette (Jim) Wheeler, of Ashland, Kentucky; two stepsons, Terry Johnson, of Catlettsburg, Kentucky, and Rick Johnson, of Huntsville, three sisters, Betty Kay Webb and Barbara Collins, both of South Point, and Mary Dudding, of Ironton; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point, with pastor Tom Keelin officiating. There will be no public visitation. Elizabeth May (Floyd) South, 86, of South Point, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with pastor Michael Booth officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point. Carolyn (Lewis) DePriest, 69, of Hanging Rock, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017, at Community Hospice, Ashland, Kentucky.

William Ray Carmon Sr., 71, of Oak Hill, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, at his residence.

Theresa Lynn Taylor, 55, of South Point, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017, at home. She is survived by her husband, Perry Lee Taylor.
