An Ironton man had unforunate timing on Friday morning.

Around 9:30 a.m., neighbors in the area of Fourth and Ashtabula streets reported seeing a man trying to push a window air conditioner into a house and reported the suspicious activity to the Ironton Police Department.

“Members of the Ironton Police Department and the Lawrence County Drug Task Force were out serving drug indictment warrants in that area,” said IPD detective Captain Joe Ross. “So we had four or five officers in the area. He ran off and smack dab into us. One of the guys tackled him in the tree line.”
