City Heat to perform at Farmers Market Square next Tuesday
Next Tuesday will be the final concert at the Farmers Market Square and it will be local favorite, City Heat.
“They are a great band, it’s a large group and they have an extremely good vocalist, she can belt it out” said Ironton aLive executive director Sam Heighton. “They are extremely popular and will probably draw one of our biggest crowds.”
Heighton said City Heat played last year, but the crowd wasn’t that big because of the weather.
“When they were here last year, it was the night there was a big rain storm and there was flooding every where,” he said. “So we moved from the square to the Ro-Na. It was a real small crowd because a lot of people couldn’t even get into town. But even for the few people there, City Heat put on a full concert just like if the theater was crowded. They always do a good job.”
And the vendors will be back on Farmers Market Square on Friday and Saturday. Last week, they moved down to the Memorial Hall lot because of Rally on the River taking place on the square.
“It was good,” Heighton said. “It was all produce, we filled the area up with 11 vendors and had good crowds.”
He said it was a good place to set up because of the wide streets, plenty of parking and a change in traffic pattern.
“During the rally, a lot of people come out Railroad Street to avoid downtown,” he said. “So we get a lot of traffic through there and maybe picked up a couple new customers.”
The market is a project of Ironton aLive and sponsored by Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
The concerts are produced by Studimo, I Heart Media and Ironton aLive and sponsored by Phillips Funeral Home, Glockner Dealerships, Perry Distribution, Wesbanco and Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
