Lady Vikings get two volleyball victories

WILLOW WOOD — Easy or tough, the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings find a way to win.
The Lady Vikings’ picked up an easy volleyball win over the South Gallia Lady Rebels in three sets on Thursday after winning a five-set match at South Point on Tuesday.
The Lady Vikings swept South Gallia 25-13, 25-11, 25-7.
Kaitlyn Crabtree had 12 points — four aces — and Ericca Ross scored 11 points to lead the Lady Vikings. Crabtree added five kills and Ross had five digs.
Taylor Webb also had a big game with 12 kills and four digs. Morgan Jenkins chipped in four digs.
On Tuesday, Symmes Valley got past the Lady Pointers 25-19, 11-25, 25-22, 23-25 and 15-7 in the tiebreaker.
Kinzey Kazee led the way with 16 points with Ross again scoring 11. Ross also had 19 assists.
Webb racked up 16 kills and had three blocks. Kinley Patterson added seven kills and Crabtree got six kills.
The Lady Vikings host Chesapeake on Monday.

Lady Hornets win OVC
volleyball opener
COAL GROVE — The Coal Grove Lady Hornets opened Ohio Valley Conference play with a volleyball win over the Rock Hill Redwomen.
The Lady Hornets won in four sets, 25-16, 25-14, 16-25 and 25-23.
Addi Dillow had 18 points with Mattie Malone scoring 16 and Kasey Murphy 13 to lead the Lady Hornets.
Coal Grove hosts Gallipolis next Thursday.
Rock Hill visits Gallipolis on Tuesday.
Both are conference games.

Lady Fighting Tigers’
tennis drops opener
MINFORD — The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers’ tennis team dropped their season opener to the Minford Lady Falcons on Thursday.
Ironton lost four matches and were forced to forfeit the fifth.
Ironton’s No. 1 singles player is Sophia Caines; No. 2 is Tatyana Vinson; No. 3 Kaitlyn Caskey. Doubles teams are: No. 1 Hannah Lynd and Holly Dutey.
Ironton hosts Portsmouth at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
