Box trailer to be filled with items for areas impacted by Hurricane Harvey
HANGING ROCK — Two local companies are collecting donations for those impacted by Hurricane Harvey in Texas.
A box trailer will be set up at BWC Trucking on Ohio Route 650 just off the Hanging Rock exit of U.S. Route 52 beginning on Thursday.
The company, which is conducting the effort with Prestera Trucking, has already started taking non-perishable donations and will continue to collect for the next few days until the trailer is full.
Individuals and businesses are encouraged to contribute to the relief effort.
Rather than clothing donations, relief agencies suggest donations of cleaning supplies such as alcohol wipes, bleach, mops and paper towels; nonperishable food items, baby formula, blankets, toilet paper and other basic supplies.
Harvey, estimated to be the costliest natural disaster in U.S. history, has caused flooding in Houston and part of Texas, making some areas uninhabitable for months.
