Traffic advisory issued for ODOT projects

The following traffic advisory includes road construction and major maintenance projects requiring long-term lane restrictions and/or closures along the state and federal highway system in Lawrence County. • SEPT. 7-9: The Ironton-Russell (Oakley C. Collins) Bridge will be closed at midnight Thursday, Sept. 7, for remaining deck work and sign installation as part of the new bridge construction project. The closure will remain in effect until noon Saturday, Sept. 9, and while the bridge is closed, motorists will be detoured via U.S. 52 and the Ashland twin bridges.

• TBD: A sign replacement and installation project will begin in the coming weeks on U.S. 52, between the Ashland twin bridges at Coal Grove to the West Huntington bridge, and on State Route 7, from its junction/split with U.S. 52 at Chesapeake to State Route 775 at Proctorville. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one lane in each direction when crews are at work. Although a date to start the project has yet to be determined, it is anticipated that construction will begin in early September, and all work is scheduled for completion by late fall.

• State Route 93 is reduced to one, 12-foot lanebetween County Road 34 (Buckhorn-Pine Creek Road) and Township Road 258 (Kimball Creek Road) for a bridge replacement project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained by temporary signals. The project is scheduled for completion in mid-fall.

• State Route 93 is reduced to one, 10-foot lane between Township Road 326 (Sawmill Hollow Road) and Township Road 199 (Mt. Vernon-Howard Ridge Road), one mile north of State Route 373, for a bridge replacement project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with temporary signals. All work is anticipated to be completed in mid-fall.

• State Route 141 is reduced to one lane between Township Road 134 (Eph Osborn Road) and State Route 775 at Wilgus for a bridge replacement project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one, 10-foot lane with temporary signals and/or flaggers, and the project is scheduled to be completed in early fall.

• State Route 775 is reduced to one, 10-foot lane for a bridge replacement project. The project site is located between Township Road 220 (Trace Creek Marion Ridge Road) and County Road 13 (Long Creek Road), midway between State Route 217 and State Route 141, and throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with temporary signals. The project is anticipated to be completed in late summer.
