Voters in Proctorville, Fayette Township to decide on sales

Voters in Lawrence County will be asked to decide on alcohol sales in two locations on this November’s general election ballot.

In Fayette Township, a ballot measure will ask residents to decide whether to permit the sale of beer, wine and mixed beverages at the Sam’s Club at 432 Private Dr., which has applied for a C-1 and C-2 liquor permit.

Voters in the Burlington 1 precinct will decide on the measure.

Meanwhile, in Proctorville, voters will cast ballots on whether to allow alcohol sales at Speedway No. 9286, located at 119 State Street.

The Speedway effort was filed by Elizabeth Ambrose, of Field Resource Management Inc., a Columbus company specializing in alcohol sales.

A third alcohol measure failed to make the ballot.

Katimali’s restaurant in Proctorville had sought permission to sell alcohol, and owner Kathy Lundy had filed a petition with the Lawrence County Board of Elections.

However, Cathy Overbeck, the director of the office, said they did not acquire enough signatures to make the ballot.
