Lu Jeania McKinney

July 18, 1956 — Sept. 1, 2017

Lu Jeania Bryant McKinney, age 61, died on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017. She was born July 18, 1956, the daughter of Nora Edith McGuire Bryant and the late Larry Bryant. She was the widow of Paul David McKinney, and was preceded by sisters, Telisa Humphrey and Leochia Harmon; and a brother, David Bryant.
She was a member of Community Missionary Church and attended Centenary Church. She retired from The Ironton Community Action Organization as a grant writer.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Paul David (Mack) and Bobbie Lynn
(Chaffins) McKinney Jr.; two granddaughters, Katrina Lynn and Sophia Grace McKinney; sisters and brothers-in-law, Thalia (Terry) Neal, Millie (Tony) Lykins, Cirilda (Steve) Dean, Bonnie (Doug) Malone, Dequilla (Steve) Belcher; and one brother, Gregory Bryant.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. today at O’Keefe- Baker Funeral Home in Ironton. Burial will be in Community Cemetery. Visitation will be noon-
1 p.m. today at the funeral home. Robert Chaffins will be officiating.

John Bamer

Feb. 7, 1942 — Sept. 3, 2017

John Milton Bamer, born Feb. 7, 1942, died Sept. 3, 2017, son of Lawrence J. and Mildred Sites Bamer, passed away peacefully at home after a battle with ALS. He was a USAF veteran and a graduate of Rock Hill High School, class of 1959.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce, whom he married May 15, 1965.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and son, Scotty Bamer.
He is also survived by loving daughters, Kelli (Jeff) Underhill, Tina McDole, Lori Bamer, and Sara (Clark) Downing; grandchildren, Brandon (Zoya) Underhill, Britney (Chris) Bunt, Kyle Muncie, Emily, Julia, Reagan, and Hunter Downing; great-grandchildren, Easton, Jackson, Eliza, and Emmalyn; sister, Leah Jane Lair; and special childhood friend, Glen Hutchinson.
Special thanks to the VA, Hospice, and the ALS Association.

Virginia Young

Jan. 20, 1931 — Sept. 1, 2017

Virginia Ruth Young, age 86 years, of Peebles, formerly of South Point, passed away Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at her residence. Mrs. Young was born on Jan. 20, 1931, the daughter of the late Earl and Clarinda (Cornwell) Jones in Adams County.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Earl Young; and a son, Jack Young.
Survivors include two daughters, Jo Janette Young, of Peebles and Mary Lou Hokkanen, of Missouri; four sons, Lawrence Jr. Young, of West Union, Boyd Young, of West Union, Daniel Young, of Manchester, and Tommy Young, of Unity; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great- grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at the convenience of the family following cremation. The Thompson-Meeker Funeral Home, West Union, is serving the family.

Dorothy Burcham

Dorothy C. Burcham, 87, of Athalia, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at Heartland of Riverview.
A celebration of life service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller. Annis Shoemaker, 86, of Proctorville, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017.

Paul Nance

Paul D. Nance, 62, of Chesapeake, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. Arrangements are pending at Schneider-Hall Funeral Home, Chesapeake.

 

Stanton Craddock

Aug. 29, 1948 — Sept. 2, 2017

Stanton Jay Craddock, 69, of Ironton, formerly of South Point, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at his home. He was born Aug. 29, 1948, in Ironton, the son of the late Bobby Lee Craddock and Wilma Freeman Craddock.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in- law, Donna Craddock.
Stan retired from South Point High School as a social studies teacher. He was assistant director for over 25 years at the local Tri-State D.U.I. School, and also marketed for Spectrum Outreach Counseling Services.
Stan is survived by his wife, Jane Scherer Craddock; two stepsons, Matthew (Jamie) Frazer; and their three sons, Austin, Xander and Jacob, all of Ironton, and Christopher Frazer; and son, James, of Ironton; two brothers, Stephen (Lois) Craddock, of South Point, and Randy Craddock, of Louisville, Kentucky.
Funeral service will be noon today at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Jason Ridgeway and Robert Payne will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point. Donations can be made to the 10th and Vine Church of Christ Food Pantry, Ironton, OH.

Juanita Carrico

Mrs. Carrico was a graduate of Ironton High School and member of Community Baptist Church in Deering.
Juanita was a former employee at Wilson’s Sporting Goods in Ironton and, while her husband Junior served as the superintendent, Juanita served as the clerk for Woodland Cemetery for many years.
Juanita is survived by a daughter, Cora Lee Sands, of Ironton; two sons, Timothy W. (Sherry) Carrico, of Milton, Florida, and Carl E. (Terri) Carrico, of Deering; one sister, Wanda Bowman, of Deering; nine grandchildren, Tammy Carrico, Angie Carrico, Brian Carrico, Jesse Carrico, Lee Haddaway, Troy (Julie) Sands, Josh (Jody) Sands, Amanda Stephens and Tara (Erin) Schneider; and nine great-grandchildren, Brock Midkiff-Sands, Demi Sands, T.A. Sands, Trevor Stephens, Jacob Stephens, Lily Schneider, Caly Schneider, Cassidy Blum and Nash Sands.
In addition to her parents and husband, Juanita was preceded in death by sisters, Eloise Martin, and Helen Booher; and brother, Earl Boyd.
Funeral services will be noon today at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Dave Saunders officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Ironton. Elizabeth Berry, 80, of South Point, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, at Heartland of Riverview, South Point.
