OAK HILL — Injuries are beating the Rock Hill Redmen as much as their opponents.

The Redmen lost running back Logan Hankins in the first week of the season as they lost 22-21 to Minford.

Last week Rock Hill won 48-6 over Northwest and a few players were hurt but returned this week.

On Friday night, the Redmen were up 13-6 but lost fullback and linebacker Cameron Barnette in the third quarter and then lost the lead and the game 20-13 to the Oak Hill Oaks.

Barnette finished with 71 yards on 16 carries. He loss was felt on the defense side as the Oaks began to get their running game going after his absence.

Oak Hill (2-1) took a 6-0 lead on a 56-yard run by Walker Smith four plays into the game.

After having two drives stall in Oak Hill territory in the first quarter, the Redmen tied the game on a 64-yard pass play from Brayden Friend to Zac Adkins.

Rock Hill (1-2) took a 13-6 lead in the third quarter after recovering a fumble at the Oaks’ 33.

It took five plays to score as Barnette rambled 9 yards for the touchdown. Brady Floyd kicked the conversion.

Oak Hill used a 35-yard run by Bayley Clutters to reach the Rock Hill 13 and he scored two plays later from 2 yards out. The conversion kick was blocked and the Redmen still led 13-12.

The Oaks went ahead in the fourth quarter with a 69-yard, 8-play drive highlighted by Smith’s 41-yard run to the Rock Hill 17. Smith ran for 16 more and — after a no gain — Clutters scored from one-yard out.

Clutters also ran for the conversion and the Oaks led 20-13.

Rock Hill had 231 total yards with 162 coming on the ground. Adkins ran 20 times for 52 yards to go with his touchdown catch. J.D. Hackworth added 38 yards on eight carries.

Friend was 2-of-6 passing for 70 yards.

The Oaks had 297 total yards with 290 rushing. Smith had 131 yards on eight carries, Clutters 93 on 14 attempts and Fisher 66 yards on 17 tries.

Rock Hill hosts Portsmouth on Friday.
