BIDWELL — Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers.

The South Point Pointers turned the ball over five times and the end result was a 25-8 loss to the River Valley Raiders on Friday.

The mistakes left the Pointers with their first loss in three games and limited their offensive opportunities.

South Point had 152 total yards with 79 on the ground while Joel Morrison was 7-of-27 for 73 yards through the air. Morrison also ran for 69 yards on 23 carries.

Brad Perry led the Pointers and all receivers with 62 yards on four receptions.

River Valley (2-1) had 255 total yards as quarterback Patrick Brown ran for 104 yards on 18 carries and was 11-of-21 passing for 118 yards and two interceptions.

South Point took an 8-0 lead when Cade Brandt returned an interception 59 yards for a touchdown two minutes into the game. Jeremy McMillian ran for the conversion.

The Raiders tied the game early in the second quarter on a 57-yard pass from Brown to Layne Fitch. Brown threw to Dustin Barber for the conversion.

River Valley took the lead when Cole Young returned an interception 16 yards for a touchdown. Colton Gilmore kicked the extra point with 6:45 left in the half.

Brown ran 1 yard for a touchdown with 49 seconds on the clock and it was 22-8 at the break.

The score remained the same until Gilmore kicked a 34-yard field goal with 7:08 to play in the game.

South Point hosts Coal Grove next Friday.
