SOUTH POINT — Drew Lilly made a good first impression.
South Point senior scored his first career goal and it proved to be the only goal of the game as the Pointers slipped past the Fairland Dragons 1-0 in an Ohio Valley Conference soccer game on Tuesday.
“That’s a good way to get your first goal. It was a game-winner,” said Pointers’ coach Zane Joy.
“It was a defensive game. The game was pretty much played in the middle of the field.”
Lilly’s goal came four minutes into the second half and was unassisted.
Pointers’ goalkeeper Brody Blackwell had two saves and Fairland goalie Jacob Polcyn had four saves.
South Point is 2-4-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the OVC. Fairland is 2-1-1 in the league.
The Pointers visit New Boston at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
