Lady Fighting Tigers fall at Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH — It wasn’t an enjoyable trip.
The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers traveled to play the Portsmouth Lady Trojans for an Ohio Valley Conference volleyball game on Tuesday and it proved to be a losing effort.
Ironton fell 20-25, 9-25, 25-23 and 25-18.
Lexi Wise paced the offense with 19 kills and Ali White amassed 29 assists. Samantha LaFon had 10 kills and M’Kenzie McMaster four.
Wise and White had 10 points each. McMaster had six blocks and Marybeth Burton three.
Defensively, Wise had 21 digs and McKenzie Cremeens 15.
Portsmouth was led by Lydia Spencer with 19 points.
In the reserve game Ironton won 29-27, 25-22.
Kameren Arden had 10 points, Kaylee Blankenship seven and Eli Williams, Jordyn Koerper, Kiandra Martin and Malea Delawder three each.
Katie Davis had 12 points for Portsmouth.
Ironton hosts Fairland at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
