Saturday clean-up was inspiring

On Saturday, a group of volunteers from around Ironton spent the day picking up trash, picking weeds and cleaning the city’s downtown streets.
It was all part of the Clean Up, Get Down event, which sent teams, including a group of Girl Scouts, residents of STAR Community Justice Center and others to work for several hours in the area, before culminating in a celebratory concert at the Ironton Farmers Market that Evening.
The efforts was organized by Sarah Simmons, an Ironton resident, and was coordinated with Ironton aLive!, with the blessing of Mayor Katrina Keith.
While the city has its own clean-up, planned for next year, this should, by no means, mean that people have to wait to show their civic pride and brighten up the area.
We thank all who pitched in on Saturday and gave their time to this great effort.
