CHESAPEAKE — The streak is over.
The Chesapeake Panthers ended a four-game losing streak with a 42-0 Ohio Valley Conference win over the South Point Pointers on Friday.
“We needed that. We’ve competed in all our games but injuries have hurt us. It was good to get a win,” said Panthers’ coach Andy Clark.
Chesapeake (4-4, 1-4) rolled up 376 total yards with 371 coming on the ground.
Kamren Harless had a huge game with 236 yards on only seven carries and he scored three touchdowns. Kelton Jones had six carries for 74 yards and a touchdown.
South Point (2-6, 0-5) finished with 137 total yards. Quarterback Darryl Taylor ran three times for 64 yards and was 4-of-8 passing for 38yards.
The Panthers took a 28-0 lead in the first quarter.
Jones ran 15 yards for a touchdown two minutes into the game and Dalton Nida’s first of six conversion kicks made it 7-0.
Tyler Eddy had a 9-yard scoring run for a 14-0 lead at the 6:16 mark.
Harless broke loose for an 85-yard scoring gallop with 3:53 on the clock.
Logan Walsh then went 8 yards for a touchdown with 1:48 left in the quarter.
The Panthers scored twice in the second quarter as Harless got both touchdowns on a 6-yard run and a 59-yard jaunt with just 14 seconds to play in the half.
