Lady Dragons, Redmen XC advance

RIO GRANDE — One girls’ team, one boys’ team and one individual are going to the next step of the cross country tournament.
The Fairland Lady Dragons, Rock Hill Redmen and Fairland’s Ethan Lafon advanced on Saturday at the Division II district cross country meet.
Fairfield Union won the girls’ meet with 33 points followed by Athens with 86, Vinton County 101, Fairland 130, Sheridan 156, Warren 212 and Waverly 239 to complete the qualifying teams.
The top seven teams and any individuals among the top 28 not on a qualifying team advance to the regional meet.
Fairland was led by McKenna Pannell who was 11th overall with a 20:23.94 time. Shayla Stanton was 23rd at 21:00.99 and Deanna Hall No. 28 at 21:09.60.
Also for Fairland, Haleigh Fuller ran a 21:46.05, Emma Marshall 21:58.52, Olivia Lewis 22:01.58 and Olivia Burge 23:22.28,
In the boys’ meet, the top nine teams advance along with the individuals among the top 36 runners not on a qualifying team.
Sheridan won the meet with 33 points followed by Unioto with 48, Rock Hill was third at 173, Fairfield Union 220, Waverly 244, Piketon 245, Circleville 261, Eastern Brown 266, River Valley 285 and Fairland was 10th with a 290 total.
Rock Hill was led by Ethan Miller with a 17:27.16 time and was 26th overall. Eli Baker was No. 32 with a17:32.36 time.
Going places 40-41-42 were Victor Aguilera at 17:49.69, Jasson Aguilera 17:50.36 and Logan Boggs 17:50.86. Brady Floyd ran an 18:23.44 and Noah Wood an 18:37.24.
Lafon was 24th with a 17:21.25 time to advance to the regional.
Also for Fairland were Wade Brown with an 18:20.40 time, Van Knipp 18:24.06, Zack Kincaid 18:31.33, Mason Fannin 18:40.76, Jake Marshall 19:0947 and Gunnar McClung 19:44.03.
South Point’s Brycen McCann ran a 19:53.16, Jared Carter 20:06.53, Austin Webb 22:15.25 and Nakyan Turner 24:31.21.
The regional meet is Saturday at Pickerington North High School. The girls run at 11:45 a.m. and the boys at 2:15 p.m.
