Recent election cycles in our community have produced a plethora of qualified candidates for various offices throughout the area. This Tuesday’s general election is no exception. Kudos to all candidates who invest and sacrifice their time and income into attempting to become elected to public office.

Mark McCown, candidate for Ironton Municipal Court judge, is one such exceptional example of the local talent in our area. Mark is a tireless worker who believes in our community, as exemplified by his numerous commitments to the public throughout his life as an Ironton citizen and business owner. His “It’s The Law” column in The Ironton Tribune has been an extremely informative source for legal advice for many years and Mark is a fixture in virtually every local civic organization. Additionally, Mark’s dedication as the volunteer legal advisor for Ironton St. Joseph High School’s Mock Trial team has allowed numerous students to achieve great success throughout the region and state.

Mr. McCown has run an extremely transparent, professional and intelligent campaign. He is a creative, serious and technologically savvy candidate who understands, appreciates and respects the dignity of the office of judge. Simply put, Mark McCown will be a fantastic and fair judge who is willing to do the multitude of hard work that the position requires, especially with respect to the certified drug court that he has emphasized throughout his campaign. Obtaining official Drug Court certification is a huge commitment which requires a great deal of research and knowledge. Through his campaign literature and online information, it is obvious that Mark McCown is the candidate who can best make the Certified Drug Court a very necessary reality for our area.
