CHESAPEAKE — Churches of the Chesapeake area will host their annual Community Thanksgiving Worship celebration on Sunday Nov. 12.
According to Charles Case, pastor of Chesapeake United Methodist, the worship gathering is set for 6 p.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, located at 310 3rd Avenue, in Chesapeake.
Other congregations joining in the event include Big Branch, Chesapeake United Methodist, Defender United Methodist and Sybene Missionary Baptist.
Case said pastor Randy Henderson of Big Branch Church will bring the message this year.
Refreshments will be served in the church fellowship hall following worship. The church is fully accessible to those with physical challenges, and plenty of parking is available.
Case said an annual tradition at the Chesapeake Thanksgiving gathering is receiving a special offering for the Chesapeake Community Outreach (CMO), a cooperative food pantry and clothes closet that is supported by all participating churches.
The offering will help to make the annual Christmas basket giveaway possible at the CMO. This year’s goal is giving away 500 Christmas baskets that include a turkey, potatoes, vegetables and many other staples.
Case said all are welcome to join in this celebration of Thanksgiving. For more information, call 740-867-3848.
