The Cincinnati Reds’ Hall of Fame representatives are coming to Ironton and bringing a Hall of Fame player with them.
Former Reds left-handed pitcher and Hall of Famer Tom Browning will be the guest speaker at an event sponsored by the Reds Hall of Fame Museum.
The new Ironton chapter will meet from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Frische Big Boy.
The meeting is open to chapter members from any city. Persons interested in becoming chapter members may register at the door. Payment can be made at this time.
Chapter members can order food off the menu and listen to Browning’ stories of his playing days including the only perfect game ever pitched in Reds’ history when he retired all 27 Los Angeles Dodgers on Sept. 16, 1988.
To be part of the chapter meeting, fans must be members of the Reds’ Hall of Fame. There are different levels of Hall of Fame memberships.
An individual membership is $60, a family membership is $90, the MVP is a family and friends membership for $200 and a World Champion membership is $1,000.
Memberships not only entitle persons to passes to the Hall of Fame Museum but they receive other items such as Reds’ yearbooks, passes to Redsfest, 10 percent discount on merchandise, various bobbleheads and much more depending on the level of membership.
Interested persons should contact Sherry Rowland at the Hall of Fame Museum at 513-765-7926. Fans may also register for a Hall of Fame Museum membership at the Chapter meeting.
If members plan to attend the Chapter meeting in Ironton, contact Rowland in advance to RSVP.
Fans can get one autograph at the chapter meeting at no cost. Any additional autographs are $10 each. There is a limit of three.
There will also be a question and answer period.
Browning also was a 20-game winner in his rookie season of 1985 and was second in the voting for Rookie of the Year. He led the team with 15 wins during the 1990 World Championship season.
Browning was considered one of the most consistent pitchers of his era.
The Reds’ Hall of Fame is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday during the offseason.
However, it is closed on Sundays when the Cincinnati Bengals have a home game as well as Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.
Hall of Fame memberships give fans a pass to Redsfest that is scheduled for 3-10 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, and from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2.
Redsfest is held at the Duke Energy Center.
