Barbara Arthur

April 15, 1929 — Nov. 19, 2017

Barbara R. Foit Arthur 88, of Ashland, Kentucky, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017, in Woodland Oaks Care Center in Ashland. Barbara was born April 15, 1929, in Ironton, a daughter of the late Edward and Clara Reidel Foit.
She was a retired classified advertising clerk with The Ironton Tribune, a member of Holy Family Church and a graduate of St. Joseph High School in Ironton in 1947.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, David A. Arthur; and a daughter, Carol Jean Arthur.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Dennis and Karen Arthur, of Lexington, Kentucky, Rose Marie Thomas, of Ashland, Kentucky, Janet and Tom Matthews, of Lexington, Kentucky, Mary Alice and Lewis Gardner, of Lexington, Kentucky, and Andrea and Mike Pickard, of Lexington, Kentucky; 10 grandchildren, Lori, Katlyn, Jordan, Claire, Edward, Jack, Abigail, Victoria Zee, John and Hawk; and  five great-grandchildren, Caroline, Carter, Norah, Benjamin and Andrew.
A funeral mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church in Ironton by Father David Huffman with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Ironton. Friends may call one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ironton Catholic Schools, Ironton. Lazear Funeral Home, Ashland, Kentucky, has been entrusted with arrangements.

David Lane

Jan. 6, 1954 — Nov. 15, 2017

David Michell Lane, 63, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at the Sanctuary of Ohio Valley. The Lawrence County native was born Jan. 6, 1954, the son of the late Robert M. Lane and Delpha Harris Lane Mershon Skaar.
He attended Madison, Wisconsin Schools and was of the Christian faith.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Janice Martin, of Ashland, Kentucky, Mary Johnson, of Joplin, Missouri, and Donna Gibson, of Ashland, Kentucky; two brothers, Jeffrey Lane, of Joplin, Missouri, and Ronald Mershon, of Kitts Hill; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Cannonsburg, Kentucky, with pastor Stan Williams officiating. Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, is assisting the family with the arrangements. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

James McMackin Jr.

James William McMackin Jr., of Franklin Furnace, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2017, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia. “Jim” or “Papaw Mac” is a U.S. Air Force veteran, a retiree of Aristech Chemical, and a long time member of Midland Missionary Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Clarice McMackin; sister, Denise Perry; and beloved infant grandson, Dane Patrick McMackin.
Survivors of James include his wife of 49 and a half years, Sharon; daughter, Jodi (Shawn) Armstrong; son, Josh (Stephanie) McMackin; grandchildren, Peyton Armstrong, and Noah and Allison McMackin; nieces, Wendy (Lonnie) Nixon, of Lexington, Kentucky, and Annalice Delawder, of Columbus; and nephew, Nathan Perry, of Lancaster.

Mary Alice Jenkins

March 22, 1957 — Nov. 20, 2017

Mary Alice Harper Jenkins, 60, of Chesapeake, passed away Monday, Nov. 20, 2017, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Ironton native was born March 22, 1957, a daughter of the late Harold Earl and Audrey Louise Clifton Harper. She is survived by her husband, Frederick Ray Jenkins, Sr., whom she married Nov. 8, 1977.
Mrs. Jenkins attended Rock Hill High School and was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Payton Jenkins; and two brothers-in-law, Charlie (Beverly) Jenkins and Raymond Jenkins.
She is survived by three daughters, Kimberly Crabtree, of Coal Grove, Tina Jenkins, of Chesapeake, and Bonny (Lewis) Hull, of St. Joe County, Michigan; a son, Frederick Jenkins Jr., of Chesapeake; two brothers, Harold (Sharon) Harper and William (Verina) Harper; two sisters, Amanda (Larry) Brandom and Vickie Long; three brothers-in-law, Tom Jenkins, Ogle (Lou) Jenkins and Alvin (Marlene) Jenkins; five sisters-in-law, Beth Ann Sparks, Mary (Dave) Sparks, Connie Robinson, Sadie (Woody) Sparks, and Juanita (Mike) Colley; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several friends.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Jeff Cremeans officiating. Hastie Adkins Sullivan Thacker, 98, of Proctorville, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, West Virginia.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, by the Rev. Eddie Salmons and Buford Love. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller.
