Giving thanks

The table is set. The food is warm. The prayers are said. Today, The Tribune gives thanks for a good year by offering a hearty Thanksgiving meal.

A slice of turkey…for Vicki Roach, Tea Party Treats & Sweets, Jan Rader, Lawrence County native and current fire chief in Huntington; all ODOT workers; all mail carriers, Leslie Martin, veterinarian at Wheelersburg Animal Hospital, Mary Cogan, South Point village councilwoman and county fair volunteer; Chris Smith, South Point village councilman; Ohio State Highway Patrol, People for the Point, Joe Ross, Ironton Police captain; all of the Lawrence County commissioners and our wonderful veterans.

Green bean casserole …to the Lawrence County Animal Shelter; Jeff Cremeans at Ironton City Mission; Father David Huffman at Saint Joseph’s, Sheriff Jeff Lawless, and his entire team. All the students working hard and making honor rolls at area schools, Ironton Mayor Katrina Keith and Ohio University’s Stephanie Burcham.

Leftovers …Toga, an 11-year-old lab mix, Biscuit, a three-year-old mini hippo, Daisy, a one-year-old newfoundland and three cats named Katy, Paka, and Mitzi.
