RIO GRANDE — In high school, Emma Saxby was a good player and a very good student. Now that she’s in college, things haven’t changed.
Former St. Joseph Female Flyers’ soccer standout Emma Saxby is a member of the Rio Grande RedStorm soccer team and she was one of nine players from the school who were honored by the River States Conference as a scholar-athlete.
To earn a spot on the team, student-athletes must have a grade point average of 3.25 or higher, compete in an RSC championship sports and be nominated by their athletic department.
Rio Grande lost 3-0 to Asbury in the RSC tournament championship game and finished 10-9-1, the second most successful season in the program’s history.
Saxby played in eight games this season. The sophomore midfielder is a business management major with a minor in marketing.
