Joseph Osborne

Oct. 3, 1946 — Dec. 3, 2017

Joseph Osborne, 71, of Canal Winchester, formerly of Ironton, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at his residence. The Ironton native was born Oct. 3, 1946, a son of the late William Osborne and Anna Marie White Osborne.
Joe was a 1965 graduate of Ironton High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Ohio University. He was a United States Air Force veteran, serving during the Vietnam War, and continued serving his country after he was discharged from active duty in the Ohio National Guard. Joe retired in 1998 from Dow Chemical, he was a former agent for Monumental Insurance Company, and was a member of the Central Christian Church in Ironton. Joe was a musician and former drummer for local bands Firecreek and Blackwater.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Christopher Osborne; and a brother, Carl Edward Osborne.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Talton Osborne, whom he married Aug. 1, 1970; two daughters, Kathy Whitehead, of Towson, Maryland, and Shana Hudleston, of Carroll; a son, Michael Osborne, of Palm Springs, California; nine grandchildren, Morgan Osborne, Savannah Osborne, Sierrah Osborne, Reagan Nickel, Riley Nickel, Sydney Nickel, Scottie Nickel, Amelia Huitger and Vincent Huitger; two brothers, William Osborne and Thomas Osborne, both of Ironton; and many life long friends, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Central Christian Church, Ironton, with the Rev. Butch Deer Jr. and Larry Franz officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Ironton, with military honors provided by VFW Post 8850.

Dorothy Pelfry

Dorothy Whitt Pelfry, 83, of Ironton, passed away Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, at Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Lawrence County native was born Sept. 28, 1934, a daughter of the late Carl and Katherine Whitt.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Phil Pelfry, who passed away on May 6, 2017.
Dorothy attended Ironton High School and was a former childcare worker for the children’s home in Ironton. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was a part of the Ladies Church Committee. She was a member of the Eastern Star and also served 40-plus years alongside her husband in the Hillbilly Unit of the Lady Shriners in Ashland, Kentucky. She loved gardening, singing, playing guitar and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Terrie (John) Long, of Ironton; a son, William Pelfry, of Ironton; grandchildren, Jessica (Ray) Jones, Lori Beth (Josh) Griffith, Brittany Norris, Michael Norris and Sterling Pelfry; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at
Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Don Woolum and Chaplain Randy Tate officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Ironton. Ruth Ritenour

July 29, 1937 — Dec. 3, 2017

Ruth Ann Ritenour, 80, of Argillite, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Ironton native was born July 29, 1937, the daughter of the late Kendith and Mable Bundy Gee.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, James L. Ritenour, who passed away in 1989.
Ruth attended Ironton High School and was a homemaker. She loved spending time with family and was an avid reader.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers.
She is survived by two children, James Brian Ritenour, of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Kenda (Dwayne) Stormes, of Ironton; three grandchildren, Kyle, Brody, and Aaron Stormes; three sisters, Lucille Burns, Sharon (Ronald) Adams, and Vicki Hankins, all of Ironton; and two brothers, Michael Gee and Donald (Charlene) Gee.

James Willis

April 29, 1953 — Dec. 2, 2017

James “Jimmy” M. Willis, 64, of Coal Grove, passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, Kentucky. The Ironton native was born April 29, 1953, the son of the late Faye E. Jenkins Norris and James M. Willis. He is survived by his wife, Robin L. Willis, whom he married on March 23, 1981.
James attended Ironton High School and was a custodian for the Lawrence County Courthouse for 16 years. He was a member of the Ironton City Mission Church. He loved watching the Bengals, the Reds, NASCAR, and truly enjoyed riding bicycles.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Michael Lee (Debbie Maynard) Aldridge, of Louisa, Kentucky; grandchildren, Grayson and Paislee Brooke Aldridge, both of Louisa, Kentucky; sister, Phyllis (Larry) McNeely, of Ironton; brother, Robert (Kathy) Willis, of Ashland, Kentucky; special granddaughter, Susie Jiles, of Coal Grove; special grandson, Damian Jiles, of Coal Grove; and several nieces, nephews and many loving friends.

Charles Yeley Jr.

July 2, 1961 — Dec. 1, 2017

Mr. Charles Robert Yeley Jr., 56, of Ironton, passed away Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Lawrence County native was born July 2, 1961, a son to the late Charles R. Sr. and Bonnie (Stapleton) Yeley.
Mr. Yeley was a 1979 graduate of Rock Hill High School. Charles went on to work as a plumber at Hamilton and Son Plumbing. He was a loving and caring father and grandfather. Charles was of the Christian faith.
Charles is survived by a wife, Debbie (Hamilton) Yeley; a daughter, Nickie Yeley, of Ironton; a stepson, Mark Nash, of Ironton; a granddaughter, Shaianna Laber, of Pedro; and a brother, Jeff Yeley, of Oak Hill.
A service will be conducted at a later date and time at the convenience of the family.

Arlene Huddleston

Arlene Hanna Huddleston, 94, of Chesapeake, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, West Virginia.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, West Virginia.
