Joseph Osborne

Oct. 3, 1946 — Dec. 3, 2017

Joseph Osborne, 71, of Canal Winchester, formerly of Ironton, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at his residence.  The Ironton native was born Oct. 3, 1946, a son of the late William Osborne and Anna Marie White Osborne.
Joe was a 1965 graduate of Ironton High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Ohio University. He was a United States Air Force veteran, serving during the Vietnam War, and continued serving his country after he was discharged from active duty in the Ohio National Guard. Joe retired in 1998 from Dow Chemical, he was a former agent for Monumental Insurance Company, and was a member of the Central Christian Church in Ironton. Joe was a musician and former drummer for local bands Firecreek and Blackwater.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Christopher Osborne; and a brother, Carl Edward Osborne.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Talton Osborne, whom he married Aug. 1, 1970; two daughters, Kathy Whitehead, of Towson, Maryland, and Shana Hudleston, of Carroll; a son, Michael Osborne, of Palm Springs, California; nine grandchildren, Morgan Osborne, Savannah Osborne, Sierrah Osborne, Reagan Nickel, Riley Nickel, Sydney Nickel, Scottie Nickel, Amelia Huitger and Vincent Huitger; two brothers, William Osborne and Thomas Osborne, both of Ironton; and many lifelong friends, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Central Christian Church, Ironton, with the Rev. Butch Deer Jr. and Larry Franz officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Ironton, with military honors provided by VFW Post 8850.

Patsy Hankins

Patsy A. Hankins, 77, of Coal Grove, passed away Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at her residence. The Coal Grove native was born May 5, 1940, the daughter of the late Billie E. and Virginia Mays Gannon.
She is survived by her husband, James R. Hankins, whom she married on Dec. 13, 1958.
Patsy was a graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and attended Ohio University in Athens, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching. She was a schoolteacher at Ironton Middle School, where she worked for 33 years, and retired in 2003. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Michael W. Gannon.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by son, Terry R. (Lucy) Hankins, of Ironton; grandchildren, Whitney Hankins, of Coal Grove, and Christopher Dallas (Megan) Hunt, of Proctorville; sister, Tammi (Steve) Dickess, of Ironton;  three great-grandchildren; and special nephew, A.J. Webb, of Cincinnati.

William Schweickart

Aug. 3, 1929 — Dec. 3, 2017

William C. “Bill” Schweickart, 88, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at the Sanctuary of Ohio Valley, Ironton. The Lawrence County native was born Aug. 3, 1929, the son of the late George and Lena Smith Schweickart.
Bill was a 1949 graduate of Ironton High School and a former department manager at J.C. Penney and Walmart of South Point.
He is survived by four sons, George Schweickart, of Langsville, and Shane Schweickart, Paul Schweickart and Steve Schweickart, all of Ironton; two sisters, Jan Schweickart, of Ironton, and Sue Williams, of Ironton; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Jimmy Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Ironton.

Cathie Harris, 50, of Proctorville, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, at Best Care Nursing Home, Wheelersburg. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.
