PEDRO — Waste not, want not.
The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers wasted no time getting a lead and were never in want of points as they beat the Rock Hill Redwomen 60-34 on Monday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
Lexi Wise scored a game-high 23 points to lead Ironton (4-1, 3-1). Lexie Arden scored 14 points and Riley Schreck had 12 for the Lady Tigers.
Maddy Scott scored 12 points to lead the Redwomen (2-3, 0-3).
Schreck scored half of her points in the first quarter, Wise had seven while Arden scored five including a trifecta as Ironton jumped out to a 13-2 lead.
The Lady Tigers stretched the lead to 35-13 at the break as five different players scored led by Wise and Arden with four each.
Scott scored six points and Kelsey Olderham had four to pace Rock Hill.
The defense played strong in the third quarter by holding Rock Hill to four points and Ironton extended its lead to 55-17. Wise had 12 of Ironton’s 20 points in the quarter with Schreck getting four.
Rock Hill outscored Ironton 17-5 in the fourth quarter as Scott scored six points and Lucy Simpson had four.
On Thursday, Ironton visits Chesapeake and Rock Hill hosts Coal Grove.
Ironton won the jayvee game 33-20 as Sophie Caines scored 25 points.
