Harold Brickey

April 24, 1935 — Dec. 17, 2017

Harold “Gene” Eugene Brickey, 82, of South Point, passed away Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017, at River’s Bend Health Center.
The Portsmouth native was born April 24, 1935, the son of the late Parish Nelson Brickey and Gladys Evelyn Sparks Brickey. He is survived by his wife, Margaret “Nadine” Bailey Brickey, whom he married in July of 1980.
Gene was a 1953 graduate of Ironton High School and a United States Air Force veteran. He was a former shipping clerk for Dow Chemical, where he worked for 32 years and retired in 1993. He attended Prince of Peace Freewill Baptist Church and Central Freewill Baptist Church, both in Huntington, West Virginia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Opal Maxine Potter; first wife, Joyce Lambert Brickey; brother, David Brickey; and an infant brother.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Jeff Brickey, of Barboursville, West Virginia, Jay (Danette) Brickey, of Ironton, and Jon Brickey, of Potosi, Missouri;
two daughters, Jennifer Brickey, of Ashland, Kentucky, and Jadine (Bobby) Blair, of Ironton; stepson, Rick (Denise) Nida, of Barboursville, West Virginia; brother, Ray (Connie) Brickey, of Columbus; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two more expected soon.
Funeral services will be noon Wednesday at Prince of Peace Freewill Baptist Church, Huntington, West Virginia, with pastors Steve Williams and Phillip Warren officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Ironton. Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday. Military Rites will be performed by VFW Post 8850. Arbutus Kazee

Arbutus Akers Kazee, 84, of Flatwoods, Kentucky, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital, Ashland, Kentucky.
Funeral service will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at First Pentecostal Church, Flatwoods, Kentucky, with pastor Shane Cox, the Rev. Brian Daniels and the Rev. Chris Hammond officiating.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. There will be a graveside service at 1 p.m. Thursday at Kirby Flatts Cemetery, Boyd County, Kentucky. Paula Lynn Denney Saunders, 53, of Kenova, West Virginia, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, at home. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Apostolic Life Church, Guyandotte. Kenneth F. Barber, 89, of Ironton, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, at his residence. Funeral service were Saturday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton. Burial followed at Highland Memorial Gardens.
