Redwomen play steady game to beat Lady Bobcats

FRANKLIN FURNACE — It was time to put things on automatic pilot.
The Rock Hill Redwomen quickly got to the level they wanted to play, then stayed there the rest of the game as they beat the Green Lady Bobcats 54-29 on Saturday.
“We jumped out to an early lead and we were able to maintain our effort and intensity,” said Redwomen coach Todd Knipp.
Rock Hill (3-7) had three players in double figures as Makayla Scott scored 12 points, Kelsey Olderham had a career-high 11 points and Lucy Simpson got 10 points in the win.
Kane Sweeney scored 10 points for Green.
Rock Hill jumped in front 18-7 in the first quarter as Ryleigh Morris scored seven of her nine points while Simpson and Maddie Scott got four each.
Leslie Gallion hit a 3-pointer for Green in the quarter.
The Redwomen continued to pull away in the second quarter. Makayla Scott scored eight points and Olderham four as the lead ballooned to 32-11 at the half.
Olderham hit a 3-pointer and scored seven points with Simpson and Maddie Scott getting four each and the Redwomen extended the lead to 48-23.
Sweeney scored eight of her points as Green had its most productive quarter.
Rock Hill’s game at South Point on Monday has been rescheduled for Wednesday.
