Margaret Harlacher

March 25, 1916 — Jan. 10, 2018

Margaret Elizabeth Harlacher, 101, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, at Yalobusha County Nursing Home in Water Valley, Mississippi. Born in Dewart, Pennsylvania to the late Henry High and Margaret Helen Springer Nicely, Mrs. Harlacher was a retired homemaker and telephone operator. She formerly lived in Ironton and moved to Oxford, Mississippi to live with her daughter, Helen Milhouse.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Ironton, for over 60 years. Mrs. Harlacher enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, reading and traveling with her husband before his death in 1992.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Alton Harlacher; and daughter, Jean Gerken.
Survivors include her daughters, Margaret Helen Milhouse, of Oxford, Mississippi, Linda Harlacher, of Callaway, Florida, and Susan Jeter, of Chillicothe; four grandchildren, Robert Weaver, of Callaway, Florida, Dean Gerken, of Bridgeport, West Virginia, Ryan Jeter, of Chillicothe, and Amy McNaughton, of Waverly; and three great-grandchildren, Jessica Weaver, Ally McNaughton and Taryn McNaughton.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Harlacher’s memory may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 201 N. Fifth St., Ironton, OH 45638.

Mildred Wells

Mildred Geneva Hall Craddock Wells, 91, formerly of South Point, left this life Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, at her home in Shawnee Hills. Her daughter, Kim Craddock Lawrence and and her daughter-in-law, Kathy Larkins, were at her side.
She was born on Oct. 12, 1926, in McVeigh, Kentucky, and was lovingly raised by her grandmother, Cynthia Hall McClure. She was preceded in death by two amazing husbands, Cephus Maynard Craddock, 54 years, and Henry Ford Wells, 15 years; and her dear sister, Juanita Hall Fugitt.
In addition to Kim and Kathy, she is survived by daughter, Karma Craddock Vaughn; three stepchildren, Connie (Brownie) Perkey, Joy (Ivan) Hanshaw and Mike (Becky) Wells; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; as well as a great number of extended family and friends. She was a longtime member of the South Point Church of Christ. Our deepest thanks go to the compassionate caregivers of Capital City Hospice who cared for our mother and supported us as she made the journey to her forever home.
Mildred will be remembered Friday with visitation at 9 a.m. and service at 10 a.m. at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with Minister Mark Aites officiating.

Linda Rosebrough

July 17, 1950 — Jan. 7, 2018

Linda Rosebrough, 67, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, at the Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus. The Ironton native was born July 17, 1950, a daughter of the late John Rosebrough and Beatrcie Crance Riffe.
Linda was a 1969 graduate of Ironton High School and a former nurse’s aide for Bryant’s Health Center in Ironton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Reggie Crance; a brother, Mike Rosebrough; a sister, Arlene “Sis” Hatfield; and a nephew, Robert Williams.
She is survived by a son, Shawn (Deana Kerns) Rosebrough, of Ironton; two brothers, Cecil (Paula) Speck and Mark (Lori) Speck, all of Ironton; an aunt, Mary Rawlins, of South Carolina; an uncle, John Crance, of Ironton; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Geraldine McDowell

Jan. 22, 1918 — Jan. 5, 2018

Geraldine Anne McDowell, 99, passed away Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, surrounded by loving family. Gerry was born on Jan. 22, 1918, in Ashland, Kentucky, to Ralph Otto and Alma von Mussinan.
Gerry married Augusta Lee (Gus) McDowell in 1938, and they raised three children together on Etna Street in Ironton. When Gus died in 1973, Gerry moved to Norfolk, Virginia, and lived a full life there with her children and grandchildren.

Carl Harmon

Aug. 9, 1955 — Jan. 9, 2018

Carl Eugene Harmon, 62, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky.
The Ironton native was born Aug. 9, 1955, a son of the late James and Ellen Bundy Harmon.
Carl was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and a former laborer for Montroso’s Apple Orchard. He was an avid Ohio State fan and was of the Apostolic faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Don Harmon; a sister, Donna Harmon; and a sister-in-law, Ruby Harmon.
He is survived by a sister, Ruth Harmon, of Ironton; two brothers, Charles Harmon and Pete (Becky) Harmon, all of Ironton;  and a nephew, Michael (Alisha) Martin, of Ashland, Kentucly.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Hanging Rock Cemetery with pastor Kenny Waller officiating. Mildred Stevens

Jan. 9, 1933 — Jan. 7, 2018

Mildred Joan (Clay) Stevens, 84, of South Webster, died at Trinity Station and Community Hospice in Flatwoods Kentucky, on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018.
She was born Jan. 9, 1933, to the late William and late Grace Baldridge Clay. She was the widow of the late James R. Stevens.  She was retired from the Kroger Company. She is survived by her son, Bucky Lee and Sondra Steven, of Flatwoods, Kentucky; and two grandchildren, Kelly Leigh Stevens and Dr. Payton Drew Stevens.
She was preceded in death by one son, Colin Okey Steven.
A committal service will be 2 p.m. today at section P in Woodland Cemetery, Ironton, with James Smedley officiating. O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home, Ironton, is handling the arrangements.

Larry Erwin

Larry E. Erwin, 63, of Greenup, Kentucky, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, at King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, Kentucky. He is survived by his wife, Myra Dean Bailey Erwin, of Greenup, Kentucky.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Faith Christian Assembly Church, Flatwoods, Kentucky, with the Rev. Jonathon Bailey and pastor Dwight Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Bellefonte Memorial Garden, Flatwoods, Kentucky. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the church. Charles Paese

Charles James Paese, 87, of South Point, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, West Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Mary Paese.
Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Chesapeake. A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne.
