South Point man arrested after jump in river

BARBOURSVILLE — A South Point man was arrested after he jumped into a river to escape law officials.

It began Saturday, after West Virginia law enforcement got a report of a truck being stolen from Late Night Street Rods in Ona, West Virginia.

The truck was spotted by a trooper from the West Virginia State Police who pursued the vehicle driven by a man later identified as Joshua Roman, of South Point.

The pursuit ended behind the Koh’s department store in the Huntingotn Mall in Barboursville.

Roman left the truck and jumped into the Mud River to escape but officers from the Cabell County Sheriff’s deputies were waiting for him on the other bank and arrested him.
