PORTSMOUTH — The South Point Pointers are looking road weary.
Playing their third game of the week — all on the road — the Pointers lost 79-53 to the Portsmouth Trojans in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Friday.
South Point (6-7, 3-5) had three players in double figures. Jared Whitt scored 13, Austin Webb 11 and Tayshaun Fox 10.
Webb had six rebounds while Fox had three assists. Roger Staggs got two steals.
Portsmouth (8-4, 4-3) got a career-high 27 points from Daniel Jordan. Isaac Kelly scored 14 points in the win.
Portsmouth jumped in front 21-11 the first quarter as Jordan scored 11 points. Whitt hit a 3-pointer and scored five points.
The Trojans stretched the lead to 38-26 at the half as Jordan score five points and Kelly hit a 3-pointer. Whitt drained a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight points.
The lead went to 51-43 after three quarters as Portsmouth erupted for 23 points.
Kelly hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight points while Jordan got seven more. Webb scored eight points and Fox five as the Pointers battled to stay close.
Reese Johnson scored seven of his eight points in the fourth quarter as Portsmouth outscored South Point 18-10. Jordan added four points in the quarter while no one had more than three points for South Point.
South Point hosts Huntington St. Joe on Saturday and Fairland on Tuesday. Portsmouth visits Chesapeake on Tuesday.
