Seniors spark Female Flyers’ win

It was senior night, so the spotlight was on the seniors.
And they stole it.
Alyson Johnson had 12 points and Ashley Bartram scored 10 points to help the St. Joseph Female Flyers beat Huntington Covenant 41-34 on Thursday.
Besides the two seniors, Faith Mahlmeister was in double figures with 12 points for St. Joseph.
Emily Hutchinson scored eight points while Eden Bumgardner and Kassie Venoy had seven each for Convenant.
The Female Flyers took a 9-1 first quarter lead as Bartram scored six points.
Venoy scored seven points as Covenant cut the deficit to 16-13 at the half. Bartram scored four points in the quarter for St. Joseph.
The Female Flyers extended the lead to 31-25 after three quarters as Mahlmeistser scored eight points and Johnson added five more. Amanda Bailey hit a pair of 3-pointers for Covenant in the quarter.
Covenant was forced to foul and Johnson converted 4-of-9 from the foul line while Kaitlyn Sheridan, Lauren Bush and Mahlmeister all had baskets as the Female Flyers held on for the win.
Hutchison had six points in the four quarter for Covenant.
St. Joseph plays at Hannan, W.Va., on Wednesday.
