Dragons finish OVC unbeaten

PEDRO — It’s now 46 and counting.
With the Ohio Valley Conference title already wrapped up, the Fairland Dragons finished their business with a 74-46 win over the Rock Hill Redmen on Friday to give them 46 straight league wins.
Fairland is now 19-3 overall and ends 14-0 in the OVC. The Dragons are currently ranked third in the Associated Press Division II poll.
Keedrick Cunningham — who earlier in the week signed to play football at West Virginia State — led the Dragons with 16 points to go with three rebounds and three steals.
Kollin Van Horn had 12 points and nine rebounds for the Dragons while Isaiah Howell added 10 points and five assists.
Rock Hill (2-20, 1-13) was led by Kadin France with a game-high 16 points and nine rebounds.
The Redmen were hampered by 19 turnovers.
Fairland had 19-15 first quarter lead as Howell scored eight of his points and Van Horn hit a 3-pointer and scored five points.
Rock Hill stayed close as Jaret Bacorn and France scored four points each and Cody Roberts hit a 3-pointer.
The Dragons extended the lead to 33-22 at the half as Joel Lambiotte scored five points and Luke drilled a 3-pointer. Roberts had another triple for Rock Hill.
Thomas and Cunningham each had six points and Matt Mondlak came off the bench to hit a pair of 3-pointers as Fairland got its offense going and pulled away to a 54-35 lead.
France had eight of Rock Hill’s 13 points in the quarter.
Seven different players scored in the fourth quarter for Fairland with Austin Gartin hitting a 3-pointer and scoring five points while Cunningham had five points including a 3-pointer.
Braden Stamper had a 3-pointer and five points for the Redmen.
Rock Hill plays Eastern at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday in the Division III sectional at Jackson.
Fairland plays at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, in the Division II sectional at Southeastern.
