Ronald Hammond
Aug. 8, 1942 — Feb. 19, 2018
Ronald Bruce Hammond, 75, of Menifee, California, passed away Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, at Kindred Health Care in El Cajon, California. The Ironton native was born Aug. 8, 1942, the son of the late Ralph “June” and Marcella Hammond. Ron is survived by his wife, Gayla, his high school “sweetheart,” also an Ironton native.
Mr. Hammond was a 1960 graduate of Ironton High School and attended Florida State University, later graduating from Marshall University in 1965, majoring in psychology and speech communications. Ron was an outstanding athlete, garnering scholarships for football. Ron began his business career as a sales manager with Leader Tire and the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, and later excelled in leadership as sales and marketing manager for Ashland Oil Corporation, from which he retired in California. Ron was a hero to his siblings, wife, children and grandchildren.
He is also survived by sister, Gloria Matney, of Ironton; brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Patty Hammond, of Flagler Beach, Florida; brother and sister-in-law, Phillip and Victoria Hammond, of Hilliard; son and daughter-in-law, J.C. and Holly Hammond, of Monroe, Louisiana; son, Brent Hammond, of Walpole, New Hampshire; daughter-in-law, Candace Hammond, of Plaistow, New Hampshire; son, Todd Hammond, of Haverhill, Massachusetts; daughter and son-in-law, Krissy and Chris Scollin, of Raymond, New Hampshire; stepson, James Meyer, of Dresden; and stepdaughter, Shelley Devries Gerber, of San Diego, California.
He is also survived by grandchildren, Jake, Jack, Blake, Dani, Brianna, Emma, Liam, Alyssa, Paige, Taylor, Nevada and Jonathan; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bette Fisher
Feb. 16, 1945 — Feb. 8, 2018
Betty Lou (Hinman) Fisher, 72, of Kitts Hill, passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, at Florida Hospital in Sebring, Florida, surrounded by her husband and children.
Bette was born Feb. 16, 1945, in Muscatine, Iowa, a daughter of the late Lyle Sr. and Vera Hinman. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Fred C. Fisher, whom she married Aug. 21, 1965.
Bette attended the University of Iowa, where she became a certified X-ray technician in 1965. After having her third child, she chose to be a stay-at-home mom until she returned to college in 1984 to pursue a teaching degree at Ohio University. With her love of learning, she went on to get a Master’s degree at Marshall University. Her first teaching job was at St. Joe, and then she moved on to teach at Rock Hill High School and Ohio University. She was also a talented crafter. In the late 70s, she learned chair caning from a museum in Cincinnati and used that knowledge to start her own business. She also loved sewing, needlepoint, crochet, making dolls and teddy bears, weaving baskets, and most recently, woodcarving. She was a member of the Lake Placid Art League. She loved books and was an avid reader, instilling that love in her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Ironton.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Lisa (Rich) Saxby, of Ironton, Kathy (David) Asbery, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, and Derick (Johnna) Fisher, of Forestdale; nine grandchildren, Emma Saxby, Megan Saxby, Jacob Saxby, Kadin Asbery, Cullen Asbery, Liam Asbery, Elliana Asbery, Derika Fisher and Derington Fisher.
A celebration of life will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, March 16 at the First Presbyterian Church of Ironton. Please come and share your stories.

Genevieve Martin
Aug. 6, 1930 — Feb. 28, 2018
Genevieve “Jerry” Martin, 87, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018 at a local health care facility.
The Wurtland, Kentucky native was born Aug. 6, 1930, a daughter of the late Alva and Anna Elizabeth Enyart Mowery. Jerry was a former ward clerk for the Lawrence County General Hospital.
She is survived by two daughters, Deanna Martin, of Ironton, and Cindy (Dave) Stanwick, of Chillicothe; two sons, Jimmy Martin, of Coal Grove, and Rick (Norma) Martin, of Ironton; a sister-in-law, Sarah Heighton, of Ironton; a brother-in-law, Gerald Martin, of Ironton; seven grandchildren, Tara Hammonds, Mandy Chaffins, Tracey Brown, Tiffany Graham, Staci King, Talia McAndrew and Jess Martin; and 12 great grandchildren, Daranda Foglesong, Molly Chaffins, Katelyn Ferguson, Luke Ferguson, Clay Ferguson, Brittany Hammonds, Austin Hammonds, Beth Ann Brown, Zane Brown, Scheyer Graham, Baylor Graham and Emilia Martin.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. 7th St., Ironton.

Michael Kellogg
Feb. 1, 1959 — March 1, 2018
Michael Ray Kellogg, 59, of Coal Grove, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018. The Ironton native was born Feb. 1, 1959, a son of the late Leonard and Rita Humphreys Kellogg.
Michael was a 1977 graduate of Dawson Bryant High School and a crane operator for Local Union 181 and Tri America. He was of the Baptist faith, a member of the Bluegrass Vanners of Ashland, the Southern Ohio Van Council and a member of the Ashland Eagles.
He is survived by a daughter, Becki Kellogg, of Ashland, Kentucky; a sister, Dianna (Chuck) O’Leary, of Ironton; a brother, Brian Kellogg, of Ironton; and a nephew, Joe O’Leary, of Coal Grove.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. 7th St., Ironton, with Pastor Eddie Neel officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be John Hunt, Chris Wright, Ray Whitley, Don Fish, Steve Smith, and Corbin Fitzpatrick.

Wanda Cron
Dec. 2, 1933 — March 1, 2018
Wanda Faye Cron, 84, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. The Pine Grove native was born Dec. 2, 1933, a daughter of the late Joseph and Florence Hush Bryant. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Cron, Jr. and a daughter, Jennifer D. Fannin.
Mrs. Cron was a graduate of Pedro High School and a homemaker. She was a former employee of Cabletron in Ironton.
She is survived by a daughter, Beth Ann Hart, of Huntington; two sons, Jeffrey R. Cron, of Ironton, and Jay Scott (Ann) Cron, of Flatwoods, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Jakob, David, Martikki, John (Nikki), Brandon, and Madison; three great grandchildren and three step grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Gateway Baptist Church, 310 S. 6th St, Ironton, with Pastor Scott Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery and visitation will be Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. 7th Street, Ironton. Diana Lynn White, 54, of Crown City, died Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Crystal Care of Coal Grove.

Frances Carolyn Riffe, 74, of Ashland, Kentucky, died March 1, 2018 at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, Kentucky, with Pastor James Wells and Pastor Scott Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.

Joshua Collins
Jan. 25, 1981 — Feb. 28, 2018
Joshua Aaron Collins, 37 of Kenova, WV, passed away, Feb. 28, 2018.
He was born Jan. 25, 1981 in Huntington, West Virginia, a son of Kimberly S. Johnson Collins, of South Point, and the late Harold Lee “Bob” Collins.
He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Colin Johnson Jr. and Mary Alice “Ricki” Johnson; a cousin, Jacob Thacker; and step brother, Joseph Trent Collins.
Joshua was a graduate of South Point High School, Class of 1999. He loved to make people laugh. He was an avid fan of the Detroit Lions and loved to spend his spare time fishing and camping with his family. He was an Air Force veteran and worked as a Pharmacy Tech at CVS for 8 years.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Erin Adkins Collins and their four-legged children, Bentley, Bella and Bayley; a step-sister, Shelly Ann (Jerrod) Collins, of Salt Rock, West Virginia; and the Rev. Glen Randall Adkins and his wife, Rhonda, and family of Erin Adkins Collins. He is also survived by his birth father, Merle A. Sherman; a half-sister, Amanda (Mathew) Venoy. of Huntington, West Virginia; step-sister, Suzie Bentley of Huntington, West Virgina; and many special family and friends.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with The Rev. Dr. I. Mark Connor officiating. Burial will follow at McSweeney Family Cemetery, South Point, OH. Friends may visit noon-1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
