Kyle Yerian

Jan. 22, 1992 — March 2, 2018

SPC Kyle Thomas Yerian, 26, of Ironton, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018. Born Jan. 22, 1992, in Huntington, West Virginia, he was a son of Gordon Clark, of Louisville, Kentucky. Kyle graduated from Walnut Ridge High School in Columbus, class of 2011. He was an active duty U.S. Army specialist stationed at Ft. Bliss, Texas, and had just completed a deployment to Afghanistan. In his free time, he loved working out, MMA, boxing and hanging out with Erica.
Kyle had a goofy sense of humor and always made people laugh. He was a true and selfless friend to all who had the opportunity to get to know him.
In addition to his father, Kyle is survived by his wife, Erica Hughes Yerian, of Huntington, West Virginia; his grandmothers, Welhelmena “Willie” Foster, of Ironton, and Mary Shope, of San Antonio, Texas; sisters, Natalie Mays, Erica Clark, Jessica Clark and Megan Yerian; uncle, Michael Skeens; friend, Greg Hern; godmother, Stephanie Foster; his fur babies, Potter, Kit and Freya; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service with military honors will be 3 p.m. Friday at Beard Mortuary, Huntington, West Virginia, with pastor Shawn Jonas officiating. The family will welcome friends one hour prior to the services. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.beardmortuary.com.

Maxine Markins

Maxine Mae Addis Markins, 89, of Chillicothe, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at Vineyards at Concord in Frankfort. The Pedro native was born March 23, 1928, a daughter of the late Phillip Addis and Mae Pancake Addis Bradley.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Alton R. Markins, who passed away Jan. 6, 2009.
Mrs. Markins was valedictorian of the Class of 1945 at Pedro High School and received her Associate Degree at the Ashland Business College. She was a former bookkeeper for Joe Addis and Son Mining Company and a sales associate for J.C. Penney from 1966-1989. She was a member of the Central Christian Church in Ironton since 1955, where she was the first president of the Ladies Christian Service. She was also a faithful member of the 3 Score and More and the 50/50 Sunday School Class. She was an avid Cincinnati Reds, Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Bengals and Ironton Tiger fan.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, David Addis and Lee Addis.
She is survived by three sons, George (Cheryll) Markins, of Lexington, Kentucky, Jeff (Jan) Markins, of Chillicothe, and Eddie Markins, of Ironton; seven grandchildren, Shanna Loewen, of Olathe, Kansas, Kelley Hodges, of Plainview, Texas, Farrah Folson and Shayne Pearce, both of Lexington, Kentucky, Adam (Samantha) Markins, of Gahanna, Andrea Markins, of Chillicothe, and Lathan Markins, of Ironton; six great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Juanita Brunner, of Fairborn; and an aunt, Clarice Bridges, of Pedro.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Central Christian Church, Ironton, with Minister Jim Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Ironton, and visitation will be 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church. Donations in Maxine’s honor may be made to Central Christian Church, 1541 South 7th Street, Ironton, OH 45638.

Sandra Root

Sandra L. Root, 77, of Crown City, formerly of Proctorville, died Monday, March 12, 2018.

Karen Jenkins

Karen Jenkins, 55, of Coal Grove, died Saturday, March 10, 2018, at home. She is survived by her husband, James Ray Jenkins. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Brown Funeral Chapel, Ironton, with the Rev. Jeff Cremeans officiating. Friends may call on the family from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the chapel. Her family has entrusted her care to Brown Funeral Chapel, Ironton.

David Meadows

David Meadowa, 52, of Ironton, died Saturday, March 10, 2018, at home. He is survived by his wife, Carol Meadows. Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Friday at Brown Funeral Chapel, Ironton, with Brother Lloyd Wilson officiating. Friends may call from 6 p.m. until the time of the services Friday at the chapel. His family has entrusted his care to Brown Funeral Chapel, Ironton.

 

Eileen Moeller

Jan. 5, 1924 — March 13, 2018

Eileen May Moeller, 94, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at a local health care facility. The Portsmouth native was born Jan. 5, 1924, a daughter of the late Cleenie James and Dorothy E. Goodman Bentley.
Eileen was a graduate of Pedro High School and a former clerk for the J.C. Penney Company in the shoe department. She was the former owner of Swain’s Flower Shop and also worked in Haller’s and Weber’s Florist. She was a member of Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Hecla.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward Layne, who passed away Sept. 8, 1954; her second husband, John Moeller, who passed away Aug. 5, 1993; five brothers, Ed Bentley, Paul Bentley, Don Bentley, Glen Bentley and Ray Bentley; and three sisters, Kathleen Goddard, Lillian Rice, and an infant, Helen Bentley.
She is survived by a son, Larry (Alice) Layne, of Kitts Hill; three grandchildren, David Layne, Aaron Scott (Brandie) Layne and Jason ( Melissa) Layne; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Mike Long officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery and visitation will be noon until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.
