PROCTORVILLE — The March meeting of Proctorville’s village council was canceled Thursday night.

A note was posted on the door of village hall at the time scheduled for the monthly meeting, reading “Due to nothing on the agenda and in the interest of saving money, the March meeting of council has been canceled. The next scheduled meeting will be April 19.”

The council meets the third Thursday of each month at 6 p.m.

The need for saving funds has been a topic in recent months, with Mayor Rick Dunfee and fiscal officer Darrell Legg stating at the first meeting of the new council in January that 2018 will be “challenging” year for the village, with efforts focused on making ends meet due to a decline in revenue.

The village has taken a step to fund the police department in Proctorville, having recently voted to place a 2 mil property tax levy on the May 8 primary ballot.
