Petting zoo makes stop at Person Centered Services
COAL GROVE — Clients at Person Centered Services in Coal Grove received a visit from special guests on Friday.
A petting zoo, run by Once Upon a Farm, of Argillite, Kentucky, was set up for a few hours at the developmental disabilities facility, located on Carlton Davidson Lane.
The zoo featured an alpaca, three types of ducks, two rabbits, chickens and goats, Kensley Bair, who runs the zoo with her family, Brian, Lori, Jenna and Kaylee, said.
Staff at the facility said it was a chance to give the clients time to interact with something they might not ordinarily see.
“We’re a day hab facility for adults with developmental disabilities,” Allison McCormick, secretary at PCS, said. “We sometimes volunteer in the community or go to events. This is something different for them to see. A lot of them can’t make it zoos.”
