Lady Hornets knock out win over Pointers

COAL GROVE — Kasey Murphy dealing from the mound and the plate.
Murphy pitched a seven-hitter and slugged a home run as the Coal Grove Lady Hornets beat the South Point Lady Pointers 11-2 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Friday.
Besides the win, Murphy also slammed a home run in the third inning. She struck out six, walked two and the two runs were earned.
Gracie Riley went 2-4 and had a two-run homer in the sixth inning to lead a 12-hit attack.
Addi Dillow was 2-4 with two RBI and Lauren Meyer was 2-3 with a double and an RBI for Coal Grove.
The Lady Hornets’ had a big sixth inning as they blew the game open with six runs.
Delaney Napier, Meyer, Dillow and Riley all had hits with Napier, Meyer, Riley and Dillow all getting RBIs.
Seven different players had hits for South Point as Keiana Conwell was 1-2, Holly Ramey, Destine Newton and Lacy Asher 1-3, and Jill Aylsworth, Larkin Adkins and Abby Hannah were all 1-4.
The two teams meet at South Point on Monday.
