FRANKLIN FURNACE — It was a usual performance, but the results were still the same.
Bryce Ponn pitched a four-hitter and the Green Bobcats hammered out a 10-0 five-inning win over the Sciotoville East Tartans on Tuesday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.
Ponn walked an uncharacteristic four batters but struck out 13 as Green improved to 8-1 overall and 5-0 in the SOC.
“Bryce was a little off his command, but when he needed to make a big pitch, he was able to do it,” said Green coach Dan McDavid.
The Bobcats had 12 hits as Tayte Carver was 3-3 with a double and two runs batted in while Ponn was also 3-3 with a double and four RBI.
Tanner Kimbler and Levi Singleton were both 2-3 with two doubles and two RBI
The Bobcats had seven doubles among their 12 hits.
“We hit the ball with authority tonight,” said McDavid.
Green took a 3-0 lead in the first.
Kimbler doubled, Carver beat out an infield hit and then stole second, and Ponn doubled them home. Singled then doubled home Ponn.
The lead went to 5-0 in the second.
Caden Brammer singled and pinch-runner Wylie Sanders stole second and went to third on a bunt single by Rylee Maynard.
Kimbler grounded out as the run scored and then Carver singled in the second run.
The Bobcats score three more runs in the fourth to lead 8-0.
Maynard was safe on an error and scored on Kimbler’s double. Carver walked and a wild pitch moved the runners up. Ponn then delivered a two-run single.
The final two runs scored in the first to end the game early.
Maynard walked, Kimbler was hit by a pitch and Carver double home a run. Ponn was intentionally walked but Singleton walked to force in the winning run.
