ASHLAND, Ky. — It was a classic duel.
Chesapeake Lady Panthers’ Erika Bowman and Brooke Webb combined on a three-hitter, but so did Mykayka Akers and Halie Haney for Ashland as the Kittens managed a 2-0 win on Tuesday.
“It was a well-pitched game. They were able to scratch out a couple of runs and that was the difference,” said Chesapeake coach Aaron Rice.
Ashland (8-4) got both its runs in the fourth inning and the ball never left the infield.
Abby Stambaugh walked and Halie Haney was hit by a pitch.
Kenzi Robinson pushed a bunt for a single that scored Stambaugh. Camryn Cassidy then squeezed home the second run.
Ashley Tackett, Rachel Pratt and Bowman were all 1-3 for Chesapeake (7-4).
