Lady Vikings pick up 3 wins

FRANKLIN FURNACE — The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings went 3-for-3.
The Lady Vikings played three games in the past two days and got wins each time as they blank the Western Lady Indians 11-0 in five innings and then swept a doubleheader from the Green Lady Bobcats 6-2 and 14-3 in five innings on Wednesday.
All three were Southern Ohio Conference games.
In Wednesday’s first game, the Lady Vikings took a 3-0 lead in the third.
Sarah Kingery walked, moved up on a ground out, took third when Taylor Webb reached on an error and Kara Saunders had an RBI single. Emily Estep then singled home two runs.
The lead went to 5-0 in the top of the fourth when Kingery singled and Webb belted a two-run home run.
Green got two runs in the bottom of the inning but the Lady Vikings scored an insurance run in the sixth when Emily Sharp singled, Kingery reached on an error and Morgan Jenkins singled.
In the second game, Webb had a big performance at the plate as she went 3-4 with a home run and six runs batted in.
Jenkins reached on an error and scored on a hit by Webb who then stole second and third and scored on a hit by Saunders. Estep hit into a fielder’s choice to score Saunders and Estep scored on a throwing error.
Three runs scored in the second when Kingery and Jenkins singled and Webb cranked her second three-run homer of the day.
The lead grew to 13-3 in the third.
Jenkins and Webb singled and Saunders had a two-run single. Rachael Hayes singled in a run, Kelsey Gothard singled and moved up on two wild pitches and scored on an error.
The Lady Vikings scored three runs in the fourth as Sharp, Hunter, Kingery, Jenkins and Webb all singled.
On Tuesday, the Lady Vikings blanked Latham Western 11-0 in five innings.
The key to the win was a nine-run second inning.
Eight of the runs scored as Kingery, Ross and Hunter all had two-run singles and Webb doubled for two more.
Symmes Valley plays Pickerington North at 4 p.m. in the Valley of Thunder Friday.
